The Pianist
Wladyslaw Szpilman's experiences during Nazi occupation in Warsaw is depicted here through true events. When Jews of Warsaw are forced into ghettos, Szpilman finds work playing music at cafes while playing himself; when his family leaves Warsaw in 1942 and eventually deported abroad; Szpilman stays behind and works briefly as a laborer before going into hiding in its ruined streets.
